New Freshman Characteristics
The New Freshman Characteristics highlight a continued increase in the ACT scores of the Fall 2013 Freshman cohort. For the Twin Cities campus, the mean composite ACT score is 27.9 and the median score is 28. The mean score for the Fall 2002 cohort was 24.7. The College of Science and Engineering reported the highest college level composite ACT score mean of 30.8, followed closely by the College of Biological Sciences with 30.3 (Source). It should be noted that the High School Rank should be viewed cautiously as fewer values are submitted with students' applications than in the past (Over 37% missing for Twin Cities campus).
Enrollment Map Highlights
The Fall Enrollment Map shows three views of the student population: Normalized by location, 1 Year Difference and 5 Year Difference. This tool can highlight some of the regional differences of UMN Institutions. For example, viewing all Twin Cities campus undergraduates compared to the Duluth campus undergraduates map highlights the number influence on the Arrowhead region of Duluth versus the Twin Cities metro area.

More on the Fall Enrollment Pivot Tool
The Fall Student Enrollment Pivot reports were created to enable our users to cross a few of our key variables which are reported separately on the Official Enrollment Reports. Take a look if you are hoping to find a finer detail level within variable sub-groups, for example Gender by Ethnicity Group. With the Fall 2013 release, we are able to provide six years of data on this report.

Fall 2011 Graduate Level IntraCT
The Fall 2011 is the first in term after which the Restructuring the Oversight and Support of Graduate Education to Enhance Excellence plan was completed. Per the plan summary: "The Graduate School will be reconfigured from a free-standing administrative unit to which all graduate programs directly report, to an Office of Graduate Education that parallels the Office of Undergraduate Education."
The FAQ section explains how this change will affect institutional reporting: "Professional degrees, master's programs, and applied doctoral programs outside the Academic Health Center will be the responsibility of collegiate units and campuses. For health professional programs, the current process in health sciences will continue."
Our Official Enrollment Reports have always reported graduate students based upon their college of enrollment as opposed to the graduate school, so these counts will not change. However, due to the reclassification of students in the underlying system, a majority of Continuing graduate students have been classified with a registration status of Intra Campus Transfer (Intra CT) instead of Continuing.
Please keep this in mind when looking at the Registration Status reports for Twin Cities and Duluth graduate students. The charts pictured below illustrate the jump in Intra CT registrations.

Duluth

Morris, Crookston and Rochester campuses do not have Graduate programs, so they were not affected by this change.

Student Data Enhancements
System-wide Totals
The enrollment reports now show a University of Minnesota System-wide total when viewing the Headcount Data (the reports on the left-hand column which show one term of data). This had been requested for those who work on a system level. Previously, one would have been required to add up each of the Campus totals to get the system total.

"All on one page" report
One change a few people had requested was the ability to see all of the dimensions we made available in the Headcount reports available on one page, so it could be printed. We have added the ability to do just this. If you would like to utilize this, find the link on the bottom of the left-hand column which says "All of the above on one page".

Data to Fall 2000/Fall 2001
The Official Student Enrollment data and the New Freshman Characteristics data had been limited to Fall 2005 due to limits of our trend data. We have now opened up the one-term reports for all the available terms (Fall 2000 for Enrollment, Fall 2001 for Freshman Characteristics).

Enrollment Data: Fall 2010 Released
Fall 2010 Data
The Fall 2010 Official Enrollment Statistics and New Freshman Characteristics data has been loaded.
Race/Ethnicity (Multi) Data re-loaded
The Official Enrollment Report for Race/Ethnicity (Multi), the report which also breaks out students who report more than one Race/Ethnicity group, was reloaded. The data counting the international students was incorrect, though the number of affected students was quite low. It should now match the numbers found on the Data Warehouse.
Historical Student Headcounts
The Historical Student Headcounts page was also updated, and corrected. The graph shows only Twin Cities campus, previously the 2009-10 value had 57 extra students from the Rochester campus.
Fall Enrollment Map
We have released a new tool to coincide with the Fall 2010 data, the Enrollment Map. This tool maps the Official Enrollment Home Location Code (HLC) to a latitude and longitude, then using the Google Maps API, places a marker based upon the number of students at the corresponding HLC. Data can be viewed by Term, Campus, Level and College. It is a neat way to visualize the enrollment.
