The University of Minnesota Official Enrollment Statistics for the Summer 2012 term have been released. The overall enrollment stood at 19,798. Undergraduate enrollment is 10,618.

Released: Summer 2012 Enrollment
The University of Minnesota Official Enrollment Statistics for the Summer 2012 term have been released. The overall enrollment stood at 19,292 which is down from last summer. This is due to a decrease in graduate and non-degree students. Undergraduate enrollment is 10,178.

New SERU site released
We are pleased to announce the release of seru.umn.edu. The site content is centered around the Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) project, which is part of our overall U Matter student assessment strategy. This site is designed for students who are responding to the SERU survey, as well as staff, faculty and the entire University community, who will be promoting the survey and eventually using the survey results to inform decisions.
The site was developed by the Office of Institutional Research. The U Matter graphics were designed by the U Relations team, who also helped in designing the overarching brand for all of the survey communications.
Check the site for announcements about the survey. We will be publishing the 2012 response rates by College frequently after the survey has launched on March 20th, 2012.

Released: 2011-2012 Common Data Set
The 2011-2012 Common Data Set file is now available for download. Staff member Andrea Galliger has provided a short description of the file:

The Common Data Set (CDS) is a set of information whose content and definitons are agreed upon by data providers in the higher education community as well as publishers represented by the College Board, Peterson's, and U.S. News & World Report. These efforts are aimed at reducing the reporting burden on data providers while improving the accuracy of the information provided. An updated Common Data Set is produced once each academic year.

Student Aid Profile: 2010-2011
The Student Aid Profile reports have been updated with the 2010-2011 aid year data. This update also includes the Student Aid Profile: Trends report. As noted during when the report was released, this table contains a vast amount of information about the institution, including:
Admissions related data includes the number of new student (freshmen and transfer) that have applied, been admitted, and enrolled for an entire aid year (fall, spring, and summer terms).
Financial aid related data includes the number of students receiving aid, PELL Grants, and University Scholarships. Average aid amounts for the year by category is also included. Federal cost of attendance information for new freshmen that are Minnesota residents is also available.

Enrollment Map - Mapping Differences
The Enrollment Map has been updated to include two more data views: One Year Difference and Five Year Difference. While the Normalized data view provides a "local impact" at a glance, the difference views show the change over time. The view can reflect a population change (e.g. more students coming from suburban Twin Cities counties because of growth), or results of a recruiting effort (e.g. Undergraduates students from China)

Released: Survey and Staff page enhancements
In an effort to continuous improve the layout and data available on our site, we have released an updated version of our staff page and our surveys page. Besides our homepage, these are the two most viewed non-report pages on the site. We thought it was in our interest to improve the aesthetic on these pages, as well as improve content of the page.

This site now has navigation on the left-hand side of the page. We also created a separate page for each survey listed, and added more descriptive information about the survey and what we as a department and the University as a whole do with the data collected from the survey.

Each staff members job title and responsibilities, areas of expertise and other pertinent career information have been added to this page.

Released: 2010 SERU Results
The Office of Institutional Research is releasing a series of reports based upon the results of the Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) survey from Spring of 2010. The SERU survey is administered by the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California Berkeley. The SERU Consortium was formed in 2008 and currently includes sixteen major US public research universities, including all nine undergraduate campuses of the University of California system, along with seven other Association of American Universities (AAU) institutions: the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, Rutgers University, the University of Florida, University of Pittsburgh, University of Oregon, and the University of Texas at Austin.
The survey results are intended to be used broadly for many different purposes, but primarily for use in program reviews, student experience analysis and other policy decisions here at the University.
Summary level data will be available to all students who have enrolled from Spring 2010 to Spring 2011, current Staff and Faculty at the University of Minnesota.

Released: Financial Aid Reports - All Undergraduates
The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) has a new student financial aid report. This new report includes admission and financial aid data for all undergraduate students (degree seeking and non-degree seeking, full and part time) by campus. The reports are by aid year which includes three terms (fall, spring, and summer) and starts with data from Fall 1999. Currently, there are eleven aid years of data available.
Admissions related data includes the number of new student (freshmen and transfer) that have applied, been admitted, and enrolled for an entire aid year (fall, spring, and summer terms).
Financial aid related data includes the number of students receiving aid, PELL Grants, and University Scholarships. Average aid amounts for the year by category is also included. Federal cost of attendance information for new freshmen that are Minnesota residents is also available.
The new reports also include average loan debt amount broken down by Minnesota residents and Non-Minnesota residents. The amount is calculated for those students that graduated during the report aid year. The average loan debt amount is further broken out to include and exclude PLUS (parent) loans. The loan amounts are those processed and captured in the University of Minnesota student systems, and would not include personal loans made by the student or parent. Average Loan Debts are not available prior to Fall 2003.

Released: HR Employee Count Tool and Student Aid Profile
HR Headcount Tool
The next iteration of our web-based reports has been released. This time the Human Resource Employee Headcount PDF was the subject of the conversion. These reports offer more flexibility than the student data in terms of presentation. We have three pre-built reports, one of which is based on the PDF as well as a tool which allows users to drag and drop dimensions to view that data to their liking, based on the concept of an Excel pivot table.
